Grab yourself a cuppa, this has turned out to be a bit of a long one! It has been several years since I have featured Barter Books here. And yet, there is something about this time of year that makes me want to spend time in lovely Northumberland, the rich autumn colours in this old market town are second to none. And if that is not reason enough, visiting Alnwick in Northumberland offers the opportunity to browse old books in a wonderful location with lots of original features and great history, such a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours on a chilly Saturday afternoon. Set in the old Railway Station in Alnwick, there is a book on every topic you can think of as well as a real lit fire to cosy up with a warm drink if you so desire. To find an independent bookshop such as Barter Books, more or less on the doorstep, is a true treasure found indeed.
