Nars at John Lewis

The third part of my pamper day at John Lewis, was a Nars Make-Up Consultation by the very knowledgeable and charming consultant, Sophie. (You can see my other posts on the pamper day here and here). I have been a Nars user for many years now, so to find out more about their newest products and insider tips from Sophie was an hour very well spent. I will try to link as many of the products she used on me throughout the post, in case you are interested to buy them yourself.

Throughout the consultation, Sophie asked me which products I currently use and the kind of effect I look for with my make up. She prepped my skin with some of the Nars Skin products, which I had never tried out before so this was a really good opportunity for me to give them a go.

I then got to try out Nars newest foundation, the Luminous Weightless Foundation and got correctly colour matched with the shade Gobi. I've been hearing rave reviews about this foundation and was so pleased with the result. I am a regular user of Estee Lauder's Double Wear but have been looking for an alternative for a while. I like my foundation to go the distance and last from morning until night, which this one certainly seemed to do. This felt a lot lighter on the skin (as the name would suggest) than the Double Wear, so a much better option for spring/summer. Sophie then used the Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder, in a translucent one shade fits all. This was just used down the centre of my face, allowing for the luminosity of the foundation to shine through elsewhere.

I'm already a massive fan of the Radiant Creamy Concealer, another cult product that I will continue to re-purchase again and again - my shade is Vanilla. I also got to try the Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base which again I had been looking to try for a while, looking for an alternative to the Urban Decay Primer Potion. The Nars primer is completely colourless and doesn't have the foundation texture of the Primer Potion. Sophie's top tip is that it can be applied over the eyebrows, to give a longer lasting eyebrow definition prior to eyebrow product.

We chose quite a neutral eyeshadow colour in one of the new Dual Intensity shades before layering on a very bold cat-flick eyeliner. There was some light contouring with the iconic Laguna Bronzer and a subtle rosy glow with the Dual Intensity Blusher and Highlighter in the shade Panic.

The Nars Audacious lipstick is probably my most favourite lip product ever, I am already onto my third tube of the shade Juliette, have another in the shade Lana and most definitely intend to buy the shade Sophie chose for me, Grace. Another top tip from Sophie is to use a lip liner over the lipstick and not before for a more modern and youthful look.

The stand out products from the consultation for me, were the Luminous Weightless Foundation, the Audacious Lipstick and the Eyeshadow Primer and I also have my eye on the Kabuki Yachiyo Brush at some point too - these are all definitely going onto my next beauty shopping list.

  1. Is Grace the colour in the last photo? It's absolutely beautiful!

    1. Yes it is, so nice, I need to get my hands on it!

  2. OOh I have Lana too - it's such a great summer shade! And I also love Rita - a fantastic 1940s style red. I like the matte pencils too in Cruella and Mysterious Red. Would love to get colour-matched for a creamy concealer too xxxx

    1. I remember you getting Rita :) The lip pencils are so good too. Pleased that they are changing their packaging, it's much nicer than the old matte.

  3. Nars have some gorgeous make-up, I will definitely be trying it soon!
