Düsseldorf, Part 1

Last weekend my boyfriend and I flew to Düsseldorf for a long weekend and to get into the Christmas spirit by visiting their fantastic Christmas markets. We happened to arrive on the very day the markets opened, stumbling upon the opening ceremony itself and the switch on of the Christmas lights. Düsseldorf is such a beautiful city, my first time to Germany and so easy for us to get to from Newcastle. The entire weekend was spent walking - a lot; window-shopping the many designer boutiques; stopping at the many cafes and market stalls for street food and German beer; and taking in the amazing atmosphere and smells from the market. The markets themselves are scattered around the city, so really you can't avoid them (a good thing) but result in maintaining the jolly Christmas theme wherever you are in the city. Here is part one of my trip and some pictures I took throughout my stay...
