iPhone Pics - February 2012

I must confess to having lost my Instagram mojo. These posts are so popular around the internet lately that I got a little bored of seeing them and I stopped taking as many photos with my iPhone. But then I remembered how fun they can be, it's not serious photography, they're great snippets of everyday life on the days when I don't have my dslr to hand. Last month I saw a #janphotoaday tag that started appearing in my Instagram feed, everyone working to the same list to portray their own idea of any given subject matter and it reminded me of the 365 Project I completed on Flickr when I first started becoming interested in photography. I knew following this would get me back in the habit of taking random iPhone pics, so I began again in the month of February. Here is my result of #febphotoaday...

Classic Weekend Attire

You can never go wrong with classic items of clothing. Camel mohair coat, striped breton top, dark indigo jeans, two-tone flats, chunky gold watch and a good leather bag. I have used this bag every day since I got it - the sign of a good purchase I think. I choose a bag over shoes this time on my monthly Spartoo shop, from French brand Groom - a very happy buy indeed.

Take10 - Crown & Glory

This month's challenge involved us selecting something from hand-made accessories designer Crown & Glory. We were each able to choose something from the shop or request a custom-made piece. I dug out an old photograph I had sourced awhile back from my inspiration folder and presented Sophie, from Crown & Glory, with my idea. What she came back with (in record time) was exactly what I had in mind, a beautiful pink/peach floral headband, perfectly whimsical and feminine.

Jewellery Box

I was recently sent some wonderful pieces of jewellery from up-and-coming on-line shop astrid & miyu. I thought this would be the ideal opportunity to show-case the large jewellery box I treated myself to just before Christmas. The box itself is huge, much bigger than it looks in these pictures. But I can get all of my jewellery, that I wear often, visually displayed so that I can easily access everything as I all too often forget what I actually own.

The three pieces I chose from astrid & miyu were the buckle up bracelet, twisted love ring and skinny bitch bracelet. The photographs on their site are a very good representation of the products in person, so I was quite overjoyed with my selection when they arrived. I see so many ways of wearing each piece; together with other bracelets and rings, as well as by themselves, for lots of different looks. What sealed my excitement for astrid & miyu when researching this post, I discovered more about the founders Connie and Jenny. They look like my kind of girls, I love their aesthetic, their focus and ideas...

astrid is a Nordic name and miyu is an Asian name. They both mean "exceptionally beautiful" in their parts of the world. Like the brand's name, astrid & miyu's mission is to make every woman feel beautiful.

Six @ Baltic

Saturday afternoon lunch yesterday at Six @ The Baltic with some dear friends. Good food (especially the sweet treats) and even better company. No visit is complete without a trip to the bathroom for the most amazing views over the River Tyne, through the huge floor to ceiling windows. One of my favourite buildings in Newcastle, it is always a pleasure to visit whether to dine out, admire the art or visit the gift shop.
