MaxMara at Fenwick

The jewel in my home city's crown is most definitely the legendary department store Fenwick. As the flagship and original store amongst ten others in the country, a couple of evenings ago the Newcastle upon Tyne store hosted a small fashion show in conjunction with luxury Italian fashion label MaxMara. I was invited along to sit amongst a very fashionable crowd, sipping champagne whilst oohing and aahing over the latest MaxMara collection.

The perfect timing as the nights start to grow darker and colder, we were faced with the most luxurious winter clothes in stunning jewel-like colours. Watching the cosy sweaters, oversized coats and neat figure-hugging dresses glide down the runway, I couldn't help but get excited for the beginning of my most favourite season. MaxMara did not disappoint with a concise collection featuring timeless classics - little black dresses, bird print silks, oversized coats, statement leather handbags, peplum tops and neat pencil skirts. It was the coats especially that made my heart flutter, especially the Wedgewood blue with collar detail you can see below. A beautiful timeless collection showcased within both a relaxing and elegant setting. Newcastle upon Tyne has so much to offer in terms of fashion and style but often gets overlooked, this event reminded me once again that fashion can be done well outside of London.

  1. The gem in my home city, Canterbury is the Fenwick too - I love the smaller ones so much better than the one on New Bond Street, the atmosphere never feels like Fenwick in that one...

  3. I love events like this; the collection looks very cosy. I guess I'm already in the mood for some cold weather and fallen leaves. Sun is still shining here, what a pity. x

  8. Want to wrap up in that cream coat! Also like that it is in support of a shop that started in Newcastle.
