iPhone Pics - June 2011

I can't believe it is already a month since my last iPhone Pics post. I got a little bit carried away with Instagram this month so had to choose only a selection of photographs, otherwise I would be editing pictures until next year (and you would all be falling asleep with boredom!!) But anyway, here's my month in pictures...

The outfit I had in mind when I last posted about my Butter Soft grey shoes by Pura Lopez from Spartoo, was to wear them with this rose pink vintage dress and grey suede bow clutch. One of my favourite colour combinations, grey and pink I think work so well for any season, they are a match made in heaven.

Detail of the Day

Yes, I have a lot of bags. An addiction if you like, which I have come to accept. And yet, still I have yet to find the perfect bag. The criteria being - it needs to be dressy enough for day or night; it needs to be big enough to fit in my dslr camera and all of the other essentials of my day; I need to be able to carry it by hand or on my shoudler; it needs to be light before my junk goes into it; it needs to be relatively plain to go with most of my outfits; it needs to be a colour that will fit with most of my wardrobe.

Hopefully, I've found my perfect bag this time with La Tropézienne from accessory-designer-of-the-moment Clare Vivier!

Edit 13th August 2011: I wanted to leave a comment for anyone landing on this post, wondering how I got on with the piece. As an everyday bag, this Claire Vivier choice is perfect. It is made of very high quality leather which despite being thrown around on a daily basis, continues to look as good as the day I bought it. I chose the long-handled version of the bag which is perfect for carrying or to wear on the shoulder, I am now pleased I chose the longer handle to be able to wear it the two ways. The only draw-back I could say, is that the bag has no closure whatsoever, so in essence would be unsafe to use (pick-pockets etc). I found a dust bag with a tie closure, around the same size as the bag, in black. This fits neatly inside of the bag and means that I can feel safe carrying it around, knowing my valuables are safe. Overall, I would definitely recommend La Tropezienne. Hope this helps!

Foreign Snacks

Photobucket
What is it about foreign packaging that makes things so much better than if I had bought them in my own country? When abroad, I love going into the supermarkets to look at the unfamiliar packaging of everyday items. So the other day, I popped into a local Chinese supermarket and picked up these rather photogenic snacks.

Pentax ME

Photobucket
I have long admired the ability of photographer's who are able to use film cameras. Each shot needs to be right, there is no taking the same picture several times over on different settings, as I tend to do. You need to know your conditions and the necessary settings of the camera to ensure the photograph will turn out as you hope. It is true that the quality of the photograph is not quite up to digital standards but there is something remarkably charming about the graininess and overall vintage appeal of the photograph taken with an analogue camera.

Which led me to browse eBay where I spotted quite a few of these Pentax cameras coming to the end of their auction on the same day last week. I actually didn't mean to buy this but when I saw that it was going for a ridiculously low price, I put in a silly bid and ended up winning it.

And so, I got through my first roll of film yesterday. I'm very nervous of the results, it has been many years since I have used a film camera and even then I'm not sure I knew what I was doing. But I'm enjoying the learning process and actually it is helping me understand my dslr more. Hopefully I'll have some photographs to share with you on here very soon.

Take 10 ~ Max C

Photobucket
A definite favourite Take 10 piece for me is this lavender pleated dress with pretty pearl beaded swan detail from Max C. I love the flared pleat style (which can also be worn with a matching belt), the cool toned lavender colour (described on the website listing as pink) and the sweet beading. It also has a lot of twirl-ability, which can only be a good thing! Check out how the rest of the Take 10 girls wore theirs - Susie(Take-out in Couture) ~ Sherin (Hi-Fashion) ~ Ellie (Pretty Much Penniless) ~ Vicki (Magpie Girl) ~ Sarah (We Shop) ~ Harriet (Where's Harriet) ~ Sabine (Psynopsis) ~ Jen (A Little Bird) ~MJ (Dreaming Spires)...
