I have long admired the ability of photographer's who are able to use film cameras. Each shot needs to be right, there is no taking the same picture several times over on different settings, as I tend to do. You need to know your conditions and the necessary settings of the camera to ensure the photograph will turn out as you hope. It is true that the quality of the photograph is not quite up to digital standards but there is something remarkably charming about the graininess and overall vintage appeal of the photograph taken with an analogue camera.
Which led me to browse eBay where I spotted quite a few of these Pentax cameras coming to the end of their auction on the same day last week. I actually didn't mean to buy this but when I saw that it was going for a ridiculously low price, I put in a silly bid and ended up winning it.
And so, I got through my first roll of film yesterday. I'm very nervous of the results, it has been many years since I have used a film camera and even then I'm not sure I knew what I was doing. But I'm enjoying the learning process and actually it is helping me understand my dslr more. Hopefully I'll have some photographs to share with you on here very soon.
And this seems like the perfect opportunity to wish my dad a Happy Father's Day today. My dad who, as you already know has taken very well to my photography hobby, by helping me with outfit pictures on many an occasion. So Happy Father's Day Popsy, I love every minute of our time together!
