Last weekend we did what the promotional campaign suggests - Visit Scotland. We drove up to Loch Lomond on Friday and then on to Glasgow on Saturday. I love City Breaks - eating good food, discovering new places and staying in amazing hotels. Some random shots from the weekend for now with more to follow very soon.

Gold

Photobucket
I remember reading an article in Vogue once, written by a woman on the subject of her jewellery box and newfound love of gold. She pondered whether or not it was due to the age she had reached (which actually wasn't that old, around 30 maybe), that suddenly she felt the time was right for her to wear gold jewellery.

I remember reading the article with interest around 10 years ago but not quite fully understanding the concept of needing to be a certain age to feel comfortable wearing gold. I did wear gold the last time it was fashionable, when I was around 16. But then the fashions changed to shades of silver and I have been loyal to them ever since. Being pale skinned, I always felt that the cooler tones of silver, white gold, stainless steel suited me better.

But all of a sudden, the pondering thoughts of the Vogue writer are starting to ring true with me. And I wonder if I too have reached a certain age where the warmth of gold is starting to suit me better. Although there is still very much a place in life for my silver accessories, I am enjoying finding new gold pieces to give a slightly different feel to some of my outfits. And it would seem the older these are, the more intricate and the more delicate, the better.

The Girl in the Pink Coat

Photobucket
These are some more photographs taken outside of Rockliffe Hall that I posted about before. You can see from the outside more than the inside just how new and modern a hotel it is. As I said before, I much prefer old buildings in a dull stone than this bright brick. But the gardens were good for a quick walkabout and some ubiquitous blogger posing.

I've had this pink coat for quite a few years now. Like many of the pieces I end up turning to for years to come, it was bought at a time when I really did not need another coat, much less have the budget for it. I was *just passing through* Reiss when I spied this beautiful pink/lilac shade in just the right cool tone that I like, on sale. I tried it on and loved the simple cut, large covered buttons and bracelet sleeves. I did leave the shop empty handed but couldn't quite get it out of my head, so made necessary plans to make it happen... with the help of my fairy god-mother... aka mama!
