When I was in Manchester the other weekend, I quickly popped to the cash machine while my friend browsed the nearby market. Upon my return a few minutes later, she was carrying a gift for me, held in a brown paper bag - a small box of macarons in my favourite flavours of rose, raspberry and salted caramel. Such a thoughtful friend I have.

  16. Mademoiselle Poirot - a v good alternative I would say. I haven't had any others than Laduree to compare but I would definitely buy these again.

Constance - maybe a little :-) when I looked at their website, the baker admire to be very influenced by Laduree but I still think they make their own mark with their amazing branding. I suppose it's difficult to escape Laduree with macarons!
