I must confess to being one of those people with a limited knowledge of TK Maxx but still with a very definite image in my mind of what I think they offer. My invitation to the TK Maxx Blogger Event in London last week firmly changed my preconceptions. I met up with some blogger faces, both old and new, for a delicious lunch at the Paramount in London as well as the chance to meet up with representatives from TK Maxx including Sophia, the buyer you are probably already familiar with from the tv adverts.
After the lunch, we moved on to a different venue, housing the new pieces styled in amongst a circus theme. Mini popcorn, candyfloss and fruity cocktails were served while we learned more about how the pieces are chosen. Sophia works directly with the designers who offer current lines, a lot of energy is put into thinking about the TK Maxx customer, visiting warehouses in Italy to unearth those treasures that will appear on our high street.
There were themes of Jewel Colours, Country Heritage, Seventies, Nordic as well as the well-known Gold Range with huge designer labels like Alberta Feretti, Versace, Galliano, Dolce & Gabbana and Halston to name a few. The jewel coloured clothes and accessories caught my eye the most, the fabrics so sumptuous and luxurious, they really got me in the mood for Christmas party nights out. What I saw on this day was surely enough for me to pay a visit to my local TK Maxx to find some of these amazing pieces for myself.
