Next Christmas 11 Press Day - Part 1

Once we start to get into mid to late August, my thoughts turn to my favourite Autumnal season. Mostly everything about the cooler months I enjoy, from hot drinks to the woody, crisp smell in the air but most importantly in my sartorial choices. The more clothes the better, layering, cosy, lots of accessories. It's that September back-to-school feeling of getting kitted out in a new wardrobe.

So needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the Press Day I attended in London a few weeks ago hosted by Next. It seemed strange to walk around looking at Christmas gift ideas and watching a fashion show full of snuggly sweaters, on a very humid day in July. But thinking ahead to cooler temperatures is no hardship for me. And now that the shops are starting to stock some winter pieces, I thought now would be the perfect time to share Part One of the event.

My favourites, as last time, had to be the accessories. The huge 70's hats (of which I have invested in already), bright tights and platform shoes were firm favourites. I loved the long flowing sheer skirts and palazzo trousers as well as the flapper-style beaded dress. The childrenswear collection and the gorgeous models who brought them to life, brought a huge smile to my face. And the various themes for menswear, ensured a collection that was classic but cool. My only regret of the day, was taking a very brief camera break and missing the arrival of Geri Halliwell, who is designing an evening wear collection with Next (here are the photographs I should have taken). Very glamorous, in sumptuous fabrics and jewel-like colours. Overall, I saw plenty that day to ensure I'll be taking a trip into Next to shop for my winter wardrobe.

How cool, I'm not the biggest Next fan, but I have to admit that your photos could actually tempt me into one of their shops ;-) Great pics! Have a lovely Sunday xo

I really like some of the stuff Next do, but they definitely have certain stores that get better drops of stock than others. Which is a pain!

I'd just heard about next from a English colleague and meant to check it out. But for the life of me I couldn't remember the name. Then I saw your post and it came back to me. She was very right in thinking I'd love their collections. That pink skirt, the bright tights and gloves...the gorgeous party dresses. :) Love it all.

In England I could think of autumn, but I am still in shock. 40Âșc is more than anybody can stand after the lovely weather we had in England.
Glad to be back.

I think the people at Next are secretly mad at me for crashing the last event, because they don't invite me to them anymore (although, I guess technically they never did, haha) Anyway, it looks like you girls had a lot of fun and I am loving the chunky knit accessories here. Also, the little kid models are soooo cute!

I love the accessories in this collection too! These photos make me want to get ready for autumn, even though it's still too hot to think about autumn/winter clothes where I live!

I live in the Bay Area and it's stayed relatively cool for most of the summer. We got some pretty HOT days, but they were few and far apart.

I LOVE Autumn and like you, I enjoy dressing in layers. Thanks for sharing these pics, Paula. They're inspiring!

i may actually be unable to function if i don't, somehow, get a hold of that sequin star dress, with matching tights, of course. perhaps i can coax a PR into sending it stateside.

WOW, that is impressive, because I love absolutely every single one of the outfits you showed! My fave is the short evening dress with the star print tights, it plays right into my current obsession for stars appliques and prints :-)

Love the mens a lot more than the womens being truthful. I've always loved mens knits over womens though. Can't wait for winter x
