I'm a big supporter of English day trips. I love nothing more than taking off for the day on a lovely drive, with the sun shining. My favourite places to visit are those stereotypical English towns and villages with lots of greenery, good coffee shops and quaint independent shops that you don't find in your everyday city centre. So we drove to The Lakes in Cumbria, calling in at Penrith first (sadly, we arrived too early on a Sunday morning and all was closed), then on to Keswick where most of the day was spent. And finally calling in at Lake Windermere, but unknown to us there was an air show on that day. Coupled with the blistering sunshine, this made for very busy streets. As I'm not really one for crowds, we drove on (although I did manage to get one shot of the air show through the car windscreen window). It was a lovely day, browsing the shops in the rare English sunshine.
