Since receiving a Fuji Instax Mini for Christmas, I must admit to having not used it that much. It's a big camera and the film is quite expensive but mostly I haven't as yet felt as though I have had the occasion to use it. Somehow, these small snippets of memories that lie in the palm of your hand feel like they should be very important. I did put my mind to 'wasting' the first couple of packs of film to understand how the camera works, so mostly the pictures taken are just from things lying around. Out of the two packs, only the above pictures do I really like, but I do feel as though I have a greater understanding of light and composition when using it. I don't regret having this camera, it is so perfect for instant photography and I hope to eventually build up a collection of photographs from it that I can keep forever. And which I will share on here too of course.

  2. Oh just like me! I remember when I first got my hands on the instax, I wasted my first film pack just snapping around trying to understand how it works. Sadly they didn't turn out as nice as yours did. And consequently I wasted one or two more, but after that I got a hang out of it! :)

You're right - they should be used to snap important and memorable moments. I used it for a while and now it's been sitting on my table for months. :\ Gotta start using it again! :)

But it'll definitely be a fun journey with your instax! ;) I can testify. Though it will be very heavy on your pocket. x

  3. These are so lovely. :) I REALLY want a fuji instax, but the film is just so dang expensive. :/

I think that anything with film is a trial and error process, you know? I can't tell you how many times I thought I had a good picture, and when I got it developed, the lighting wasn't right. But anyway, once you get the hang of it, its so much fun! (I mean, I much prefer film to digital). :D

  6. The way you presented the photos is art in itself. Your floral backdrop is sweet and the Alice pouch adorable. :D

  7. Hi! I haven't been here for a while... nice post, I like the pics a lot... here is an idea I have in mind (http://decobyclau.tumblr.com/post/7366311207/quiero-ese-cuadro) but I don't have that camera, so I will look for a tutorial to make the effect digitaly.

    Saludos,

  9. These photos are so pretty and quirky! I love when people are using the actual "old-school style" cameras to capture these kinds of images, rather than image editing software...I think it is so much more magical then, and it takes a lot more effort to get a good shot. Looks like you're doing a great job. Can't wait to see more!

  10. Hi P
I think you've captured some beautiful things with it, but I imagine it's entirely different to the phone camera. I've been getting used to that and it's light, and finding which apps help with exposure. (post to come about my favourites)
I wonder if the film for your Fuji is as expensive as the Polaroid ones? That sort of puts me off trying them both. I don't know if at least for now I'd have enough I'd want to take photos of to keep.
    Love kx
Ps have you bought Oh Comely and what do you think of it? Maybe a post to let us know is in the works ...

  17. I know what you mean, I rarely use mine too. However, I stocked up on films and went mad during my engagement party and the photos are so dear to me now. It's lovely having something you can hold and treasure. I think they're brilliant for parties and I will be getting so much film for our wedding!
