Foreign Snacks

Photobucket
What is it about foreign packaging that makes things so much better than if I had bought them in my own country? When abroad, I love going into the supermarkets to look at the unfamiliar packaging of everyday items. So the other day, I popped into a local Chinese supermarket and picked up these rather photogenic snacks.

  3. I agree--foreign packaging is just too cute! When I lived in Scotland, I used to go to the Asian supermarket in Dundee with one of my friends from China all of the time--was super helpful in explaining what different things were and such a great way to try new foods and flavors! xoxox

  10. I totally feel the same. Bringing home items from the supermarket used to be one of the best things when travelling. Sadly now that we've got to pay for every bit of luggage I'm hardly doing this anymore.

    Wonderful pictures, Paula! xoxo

  11. So funny, I've done that! I had a Japanese "custard cream in chocolate" bar and the packaging looked so pretty. The bar was alright ;-) Love from London xo

  13. Oh I see I'm not the only one. When I go to Wal Mart I love to search foreign products, there's also a big department store with foreign food I really love to look at (and buy). Japanese, German, Italian snacks and more. I also found a Korean place where they sell products of their country. There's something about those packages because we are not used to cute products. Asia loves to give you appealing products and I love their marketing methods.

There's something amusing about products that even when I go to someone else's house , I always , ALWAYS ask for permission to give a look at their fridge -weird-.

  14. Aww these look delish, and I do love the packaging! One of my favourite things when on holiday is to tour the snack isles of the supermarkets, but you've reminded me to try it out at home as well!

  21. They look so cute, though not all too foreign to me, since I grew up in Hong Kong. I do love browsing supermarkets in every country I go to. The worst is if you find something you love that you just can't get back home!
