Bad Taste

This jacket was the first thing to greet me when I walked into one of the charity shops I frequent. Labelled Betty Barclay in 100% quilted silk, I tried it on and debated for a while - was I going to regret leaving the shop without this jacket or would I wonder why on earth I could possibly have even contemplated wearing it? I've been looking for novelty print pieces for ages, so good taste lost the battle and home with me it came. The perfect accompaniment to the kitsch gold poodle brooch I think.

  3. I found an amazing/hideous Betty Barclay quilted jacket too with clocks, teacups and salt and pepper shakers on! Looks like an Alice in wonderland pattern gone wrong but I just had to buy it! I have never worn it but I still really love it :)
Its weird how clothes can be pretty yet gross at the same time ...

  9. I like it! I have a hard time in charity shops, I always go for the "so wrong it's right"kind of pieces, but end up with the "so wrong it's wrong." haha!

  10. When I was a child, my mum used to drag me to shop Betty Barclay and I vividly remember some of the tackier prints. If anyone can make this work, it's you. I can't wait to see you style this!

  26. It's always best to grab and think later, if you're in a charity shop dither. There's nothing worse than returning and it's gone.
I think you've chosen perfectly, not in bad taste at all!
