After finally getting around to buying a record player that I had been debating over for longer than I care to remember, I am slowly starting to build a small collection of vinyl. I procrastinated over a vintage player or a modern reproduction, the price decided for me on the latter. Somehow, it seems that records from a different era suit this medium so much better. I'm relishing the crackles, quite happy to leave the modern tunes for my ipod. So far, my collection includes Francoise Hardy, Leonard Cohen, Nat King Cole and Juliette Gréco. I'm quite obsessed over the song Sous le Ciel de Paris, that was featured in the film An Education, so I was pleased to be able to get my hands on a copy on vinyl. Here is a little (very home-made) video of me listening to the song and wearing a 60's vintage dress.

Lovely!! I really need a record player, I have records & no player, so that must be fixed. I love the crackles when the needle hits the vinyl..wonderful sound!! You look great in that colour :) x
ADORABLE.

Truly wonderful. You're such a doll:)
xx
I love record players we have two in our house but they're not as pretty as yours, my dad has a pretty impressive collection on vinyls in fact he probably has more vinyls than CDs! xoxo
So there is a twilight zone episode with an actor named Robert Duvall called "Miniature". He sees a lady in a doll house & she happens to be moving, but only he sees her. You remind me of the lil lady in the dollhouse. Beautiful pictures & video!! I love your dress!!

It's a great asset to have a record player. We have tons of records at home, and the only two downsides you have for having records are 1) they are bulky 2) they physically wear out after playing them after a while unlike CDs
Other than that, they sound amazing. I might have to check that album out by Juliette. I did enjoy An Education.
That is such gorgeous pink dress!
Suych an inspiration: you in your beautiful pink dress playing records...

Ahh this reminds me of when I was little and played my dads Beatles LPs on his player.. so much ritual involved and careful handling, and reading of the sleeves! Haha.
Absolute Inspiration :) I am such a fan of Juliette Greco ever since I heard her on that film. I haven't a record player so I imagine it sounds that much better on proper vinyl. Love to see you enjoying the new purchase x
How sweet is this little video?? :) Vinyls are amazing, there's nothing nicer to a sound than that little cracking noise they make at the beginning :)
I've always wanted a record player. My uncles has hundreds of vinyls.
I loved the video. You look so pretty. The dress is gorgeous and your make up looks great.

You always look so gorgeous! I really love the movement of your dress too, so pretty! I always think that vinyl is so delightfully retro, I love the crackling and the slightly grainy sound...amazing!

Lovely! I've got a little collection of vinyls, they sound so much better than cds! x
What a great investment! I see a lot of record players in vintage stores (especially in Paris), but I have yet to take the plunge, although I actually do own vinyl (which I can't play). A friend of mine loves playing Edith Piaf on a record player though and it's definitely one of those things that just won't sound as good digitally.
Your bloog is a true inspiration to me! I have linked you in my blogroll!
The dress is just beautiful!
