GAINSBOURG is an enchanting glimpse at his early growing up in 1940's Nazi-occupied Paris and through his successful song-writing years in the 1960's until his death in 1991. Taking the best from LA VIE EN ROSE and AMELIE, GAINSBOURG is one of 2010's highly awaited films brought to us by one of the most beloved graphic artists of our time and the team behind the magical creatures of PAN'S LABRYINTH.

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this film. I am a huge Gainsbourg fan, listening to his music always puts a smile on my face and puts me in a happy mood. He has to be one of the greatest style icons, his look was amazing and to this day is so timeless. The film was exactly what I had hoped it would be, if not more and transported me to another era, it was a great way to spend a Friday afternoon.

Red Bows

I was delighted to receive these red satin ribbon bands from Tabio recently. And while I just adore the concept of ankle adornment, I couldn't help but play around with them, as the placement of bows for me, has endless possibilities.

7am - Today is my birthday

8am - Breakfast of coffee & a buttered bagel

9am - Open some birthday gifts

10am - Get dressed in my Birthday Dress

11am - Into the car

12 noon - Arrive at little market town Barnard Castle

1pm - Look around the antique & vintage shops

2pm - Into Cafe Bowes which is situated within Bowes Museum

3pm - Devour Afternoon Tea

4pm - A mini photo shoot

5pm - Stopped to look at an Art Deco house on the way home

6pm - Watched a bumble bee collect pollen from the lavender bush in the garden

7pm - A glass of rose wine

8pm - Onto my computer to upload the pictures for this Picture An Hour post that you are now reading

Project 365

Today I finally finished my Project 365 on Flickr. A whole year of a photograph a day which I decided to begin on my birthday last year. Quite a challenge and one I am so pleased to have finally completed. My main concern was remembering to actually take a photograph a day, I have a terrible memory but somehow I managed to get into the habit of it. The winter time was particularly difficult due to light constraints, you don't realise quite how important light is in photography.

I started the Project to encourage me to take more photographs and try and learn about light, composition, understanding my camera as well as gaining inspiration from others on Flickr. I would definitely say that I have fulfilled all of the criteria and would recommend it even though it is quite a commitment.

The Ticker Tape Dress

Often I will buy a piece of clothing that is just too pretty not to be photographed. This one is no exception, another Etsy buy from Sweet Bee Finds, I love the detail on it. It is the knee length that I am slowly coming around too, has beautiful draping and a print which reminds me of ticker tape. Remember footage of the Ticker Tape Parades made popular in New York City, most notably the inauguration of John F Kennedy in the 1960's?

Friday Feeling

I suppose one of the main benefits of holding a 9-5 job, is that time every Friday, when you know that you have a couple of days ahead where you can do exactly as you please. Or in my case this week, the week ahead. I have the next week off work to do whatever I fancy and it's a blissful feeling.

I plan to visit my parents, take a day trip, go out to restaurants, spend a day at the races and visit the cinema to see the Serge Gainsbourg film. I hope to fit in some baking and most importantly catch up with my blog reading which has been very neglected of late. And lots of crochet and photographing of course.

A lot to fit in and I'm sure the week will pass by so quickly. But I'll keep you updated with my activities, so stay tuned!

Detox

Some days it is nice to just have a day indoors by yourself. I call them 'Pyjama Days' where I don't get dressed up, don't wear any make-up but relax and do all of things I like to do to re-charge my batteries. A detox day if you like. Here are some of my must-haves...

A blanket and something warm for my feet are top of the agenda - these cosy slippers are from BunnySlippers, they have a range of other cute little animals as well as these Bunnies

As most of the day is spent lounging and napping on my bed, plenty of cushions and pillows are needed

It is important to look after the inside of one's body as well as the outer and replenish those vitamins, so a platter of fruit is essential - I chose a selection of watermelon, strawberries, raspberries and grapes

I like to try out new beauty products too. Although a loyal Eve Lom fan for many years now, I decided to try a cheaper alternative, Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish

Reading material - for mind, body, spirit and with a little style and inspiration thrown in for good measure

My entire music collection at hand for an array of musical genres, mostly calming of course, on this day of relaxation

As the day draws to a close, I like to switch on these flower fairy lights above my bed for some dim light

And finally, some great girly films to choose from, to snuggle and wind down even more for the day
