Chic for Less

After the excesses of Christmas and New Year, I find myself a little cash poor in the month of January. Apart from being snowed in at the moment, where just walking down the street takes twice as much time and effort, I literally have very little money to spend on goodies for myself.

But as we bloggers know, you don't need to leave home to go shopping and you don't need squillions of pounds to find some good buys. So I thought I would take part in this blogger's challenge to find some glamorous and stylish items, destined to be hot over the coming year, for £50 or under while maintaining the 'chic for less' theme.

Left: Chanel inspired Cropped Boucle Jacket from New Look - £40 - As I'm unlikely to ever be able to afford the real deal, this is a gorgeous alternative

Right: Breton tee shirt - £32.95 - I already have a few striped tee shirts and there is always room for one more, a classic that looks likely to grow over the coming year

Top left: Chanel nail varnish - £16 - a little piece of luxury, a new nail shade can completely update an outfit

Top right: House of Harlow 1960 Black Starburst Cocktail Ring from Have to Love - £50 - as well as this gorgeous little boutique being very close to where I live, the cocktail ring shows no sign of disappearing from the fashion radar

Bottom left: Snakeskin Court Shoes from New Look - £25 - I love the ankle detail on these shoes, a style that I'm seeing increasingly more of

Bottom right: Crinoline Slip from Anthropologie - £24.40 (+ tax) - Perfect to wear under the vintage dresses I intend on buying this year, to provide me with extra volume

Left: Navy Military Dress from Urban Outfitters - £45 - I'm still loving all things nautical and I think it's a theme that will continue for a little longer

Right: Kimchi & Blue French House Dress from Urban Outfitters - £48 - I'm not the biggest floral fan despite it being a big trend for 2010, but as this is a delicate floral, I'm smitten by both the print and the cut

  6. I love the yellow skirt/slip! I think I would wear it on it's own, and peeking out from underneath a different skirt.

  14. Great selection! I love the New Look jacket and the nautical dress... I love everything nautical as well when Spring starts. The Anthropologie dress is gorgeous as well... I'm so glad they finally opened one in London, though I haven't been yet.

P.S. The last time I was in London, I saw quite a few Isabel Marant items in Liberty and Shop at the Bluebird, so if you're ever there again, you might want to check it out.

  18. Ouh, pretty finds. I hate walking in the winter! It takes so much effort. What I've been doing more this month is thrifting, I've found so much nice stuff for very cheap, you just need a bunch of time.

You're right about the chanel nail varnish, it's the perfect small luxury :)
