10 Reasons... to love Paris

I have just booked a long weekend in Paris for the end of next month. As an obsessive list-maker, I decided to remind myself just why Paris is one of my favourite cities.

1. Dreaming of another era through the streets of Boulevard Saint-Germain and Boulevard Saint-Michel whilst listening to Air's Left Bank

2. My first trip on the Eurostar

3. Re-reading Sartre and de Beauvoir

4. Being able to use my new Paris Moleskine

5. Non stop Parisian inspiration from the Cherry Blossom Girl

6. Eating Laduree macaroons

7. Infamous Paris landmarks - the Sacre Coeur amongst many others

8. Shopping - in particular Galleries Lafayette

9. Flea-markets - this image is from a previous visit to Portes de Vanves

10. A trip to Versailles to be able to see scenes from one of my favourite films Marie Antoinette

Do any of you have any other good tips on amazing places to visit in Paris?

This is not the most cultured suggestion, but you must try peanut butter crisps if you have not, they are amazing and you can only get them in france and some other european countrys. I always stock up :)

Do go to Cafe de la Homme, it has a perfect view of la Tour Eiffel without the crowds, while you have your coffee or dinner... after 11pm the Tour lights up with sparkles so if you have dinner there it will be the most romantic.

If your budget permits it, splash out and have lunch at the best restaurant -- Guy Savoy on 18 Rue de Troyon, just off the Champs Elysees. On a weekday lunch they have specials, normally the prices are astronomical though. The truffled brioche with truffled artichoke soup has to be eaten to be believed... I can still taste it.

Don't forget to go to Fauchon to buy the most darling biscuits in a souvenir tin... their macaroons are quite good too (though not Laduree)!

NO tips on what to do in Paris, but I recommend the song Paris is Burning by Ladyhawke.

We went straight to the Moulin Rouge after the Sacre Coeur ...seemed a little tasteless once we realised the MR is in Paris' red light district!lol!!!
Oh but I love Paris!!!!! It's too beautiful! And does better Italian food than Italy, strangely enough!
Also I love that picture of the car! :)

Oh, my favorite Paris spot has got to be the Marais - lots of little shops (many vintage) and great cafes. I'm unfortunately not a fan of #7 and #8 (both are too crowded and Sacre Coeur just reminds me of too many churches I've seen in Italy), but to the west and south of the cathedral you'll find some terrific shops and eateries (just don't go east... that's where the hookers and drug dealers are). Trocadero is best for viewing the Eiffel Tower, but my favorite monument is probably Arc de Triomphe. And yes, I adore St. Germain as well. It's also where my favorite department store is (Le Bon Marche) :)

The Eurostar is a relaxing ride by the way. Except for the last time I went where it was delayed for 4 hours because the engine failed....grrr. But it sure beats flying!

ahh i love paris! it is totally amazing but beware of the touristy places, as great as they are personally my favourite parts of paris are when you wander through the quiet side roads and stumble across a great pattiserie or a traditional old restaurant. you should deffinately have a tarte tatin when you're there btw!
