Graduate Fashion

The sun is shining on this late Sunday morning, and while it may be freezing outside, it has me thinking of the spring time and the lovely spring/summer fashions I will embrace.

It has me thinking of fashion closer to home and the Northumbria University Graduate Fashion show I attended last year. This took place at the Sage, Gateshead and then later went on to London Graduate Fashion week. While I wasn't blogging then and unable to post about the event, I think this is as good a time as any to look at the key trends that were covered.

The University already has links with some major fashion companies, Nike, Aquascutum, Abercrombie & Fitch and Barbour, but last year local department store Fenwick got involved.

They offered students "live windows", in which they could be seen putting the finishing touches to their pieces prior to the fashion week. On top of that, a Fenwick Fashion Award 2008 was offered by choosing and funding an outfit for production and to sell in the French Salon within the store. The piece they chose was my personal favourite too - the ruffle outfit appearing in the bottom two images.
